The First Run
The first Diablo Blue exclusive run was in 2019 and featured a custom Diablo Blue finish, solid rosewood neck, ebony fretboard and stainless-steel frets. Our very own Pete DuBaldo was given the opportunity to visit the Ernie Ball Music Man factory and collaborate with their experts to create this limited, one-of-a-kind finish.
Basses were also included in the first run with a roasted maple neck, ebony fretboard and stainless-steel frets.
The Diablo Blue finish is a hand-rubbed blue stain over a figured maple top, with an opaque pearl blue on the back and sides of each guitar. Topped with a clear gloss that showcases both the beauty and depth of the Diablo Blue, these guitars give off an energy that can be felt while playing.
The following guitars in Diablo Blue will be manufactured beginning in Summer 2021, and will all feature a figured roasted maple neck, ebony fretboard, and stainless-steel frets:
- Axis: Quilt top, double-locking tremolo, chrome hardware
- John Petrucci JP15: Quilt top, black hardware
- Sabre: Flame top, black hardware
- Steve Morse SM-Y2D: Quilt top, hardtail, chrome hardware
An official Ernie Ball Music Man certificate of authenticity will be included with each instrument, so you know it’s the real deal.
These unique “Diablo Blue” guitars were created with our customers in mind. The name of this exclusive color was a humorous play on how the community commonly mispronounces the DuBaldo family name!
